One of Mt Maunganui's unique attractions is situated on the foot of Mauao itself. The Salt Water Hot Pools are the only of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
These soothing hot pools are well known for their relaxing properties and are designed for the whole family to enjoy. It's a lovely place to visit at any time of the year, but especially in winter as the hot water is just lovely when it's colder outside.
The modern complex includes tepid lap pool, hot passive pool, aqua jet spa pools and private pools all warmed to 39C. The temperature of the active pool and children's pool are set slightly cooler at about 32oC. The toddler's pool has fountains, a waterfall and a slide for the little ones to enjoy. There are sun beds and refreshments and there is a fully qualified masseuse available too. The Salt Water Hot Pools are open daily from 6am to 10pm.
